An illegal alien with a criminal history of immigration related charges can now add federal gun charges to his lengthy list of offenses.

28-year-old Elmer Humberto Aparicio Castillo has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by an illegal alien, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Middle Tennessee.

Court documents show that Aparicio-Castillo was arrested on January 8 after federal Homeland Security agents executed a federal search warrant on a home on Hobson Drive in Antioch. Five men ran from the residence as the officer approached. All of the men were subsequently caught.

As a safety sweep of the home was conducted, officers found a Glock 23, Gen 4 .40 caliber pistol with an extended magazine with a maximum capacity of 31 rounds, loaded with 19 9mm rounds. After waiving his Maranda rights, Aparicio-Castillo told officers that the gun was his and that he had attempted to discard it as he ran away.

The five men were initially being investigated for allegedly running a brothel out of the home as part of a larger prostitution operation that included other homes in the area, including one on Mt. View Road and another on Bart Drive where a triple homicide occurred last September.

According to MNPD, Aparicio-Castillo and the others are all believed to be Venezuelan nationals who are in the country illegally, with possible ties to the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TDA).
