The two years since the atrocities of October 7 have been a moral test for us all, one which most people in Israel have passed while sadly all too many in Britain and throughout the West have failed. Many in Britain should be ashamed of themselves.
They surely include the Palestine activists who on the afternoon of October 7 2023 put in their application for a demonstration in London; the people who tweeted that weekend in support of the Palestinian ‘resistance’; all those who ignored the multiple gang rapes, the torture and the mass murder of civilians on that terrible day; all those who have campaigned ceaselessly on behalf of Gazans but never spared a thought for or uttered a word in support of the hostages.
They include those broadcasters, the BBC especially, who have relentlessly put out a one-sided narrative on this war, holding Israel to absurdly high standards of behaviour while holding Hamas to absolutely none.
They include all those who claim that Israel is committing ‘genocide’ in Gaza, having never shown any sympathy or support for the Uyghers or the Yazidis.
They include those politicians whose response to the conflict is based on the psephological calculation that there are many times more Muslim voters than Jewish ones.
They also include the Labour Government which chose to recognise a state of Palestine, while tortured hostages languish in cages and tunnels.
