The Nashville Public Library has partnered with the Gaylord Opryland Resort for a “Cool Reader Program” to incentivize Metro Nashville PreK-8th grade students to read books over the holiday season to earn a free ticket to this year’s “ICE!” as part of the resort’s 42nd annual “A Country Christmas” event.

To promote literacy at an early age and inspire a love of reading, the “Cool Reader Program” challenges students to read five books between November 1, 2025, and January 2, 2026 to earn a free child admission ticket to “ICE!” featuring A Charlie Brown Christmas on select dates.

“This is the age when literacy becomes the biggest part of their life, and it is essential to any type of literacy that comes thereafter. And so grabbing them at this age ensures that they become lifelong learners, they enjoy reading and they get to see themselves in stories,” said Syreeta Butler, manager of Limitless Libraries Bookmobile.

Students simply need to pick up a special bookmark at either their school or local library, track the five books they read on the bookmark, and return it to their school or local library. They will then be rewarded with a free voucher to “ICE!”, which will also include a $10 discount toward the purchase of additional tickets.

The Opry’s ICE! is its signature holiday attraction, featuring ice sculptures, frozen slides, and mesmerizing passageways, hand-carved from more than 2 million pounds of ice. This year’s event will feature favorite scenes from the classic TV special, A Charlie Brown Christmas.

Mark Kelly of News 2’s Good Morning Nashville read the iconic holiday story to a group of children at the Donelson library on Nov. 1 where Snoopy and Charlie Brown stopped by to say hello.

The Gaylord Opry also announced they will be donating A Charlie Brown Christmas books to 21 Nashville Public Library locations and 84 schools.
