A Knoxville man was arrested last week after Knox County Sheriff’s Office narcotics and SWAT teams discovered large quantities of drugs, a firearm and cash inside an apartment located near two day care facilities.

Thomas Fletcher was arrested around 6:30 a.m. at 2405 Linden Avenue and was charged with maintaining a dwelling for drug use, weapons violations, and multiple drug possession charges.
According to court documents, investigators found the following inside the apartment:
- 799 grams (nearly two pounds) of cocaine
- 45 grams of fentanyl
- Approximately one pound of marijuana
- Additional unspecified drugs
- One handgun
- $24,745 in cash

The apartment is located within one mile of two different daycares and is in an area that is “designated as a drug free zone by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.”
It is also located near Austin-East Magnet High School.
In an effort to protect children from exposure, potential penalties for drug offenses are increased if they occur in a designated drug-free zone.
