Letter of the day – The Conservative Woman

Dear Editor

THE Reform/Nigel Farage comedy show rolls on in its predictable fashion yet again this week.

Just like in a horse race Reform has become the odds-on favourite, not because Reform has policies but because the bookies have cottoned on to the fact that even the British punters have seen through the Starmer stable.

Just as Labour got a landslide purely on the back of terrible Tories, Farage now reckons Starmer is so appallingly awful that punters will vote for whoever becomes the highest profile snake oil salesman with the gift of the gab.

All he needs to do now is keep Reform up there in the headlines, stoke up the razzmatazz and bang the drum. Actual policies, manifesto commitments, new people with ‘reforming belief? They all become less of a requirement. Fresh people with new ideas? No thank you!

What Reform is now recruiting is ‘experienced politicians’, clever old operators who ‘know the ropes’ – that is, they know how Parliament works (though not well enough  to counter an institutionally left progressive Civil Service); men and women who have successfully climbed the greasy political pole and who, above all else, are good at looking after themselves.

But how many have any interest in the ordinary British worker?

Which party do Zia Yusuf, Nadine Dorries, Nadhim Zahawi, Robert Jenrick, Andrew Rosindell and increasingly Nigel Farage himself all really belong to? Surprise, surprise! It’s our old friend, the Uniparty!
