Tennessee Conservative News Staff –
A federal judge has given a short deadline for additional evidence of police corruption by Johnson City officers to be presented or the plaintiff could see the case thrown out.

The order comes after the plaintiff in one of the cases made a motion for summary judgement.
The lawsuit filed by Mikayla Evans of Kingsport is one of three federal cases filed against Johnson City PD related to their handling of sexual assault cases. In particular, the cases look at their dealings with convicted criminal Sean Williams.
While federal judge Ronnie Greer acknowledged the poor performance of JCPD in the past, it has been noted that the department has made significant improvements in their handling of these cases. He also criticized arguments being made by both sides.

Some of the charges in the original suit were dismissed for Officer Brady Higgins and other officers.
Greer stated that Evans “risks her whole case by refusing to even try to meet her burden and simply asking for discovery before the motions are decided.” He noted that she would have to back up her claims that her civil and Constitutional rights were violated.
He also noted, however, that JCPD did not deny that officers had performed poorly in the past, but they did deny any instances of bribery, bias, and obstruction.
Greer is the judge who handled the case that finally saw Williams be convicted and sentenced to 95 years in jail.
