Dear Ben Habib and Advance UK,
We are all behind you, Ben – those of us who have a capacity to think clearly and critically.
It’s obvious that the ethnicity of a person is based on the culture they hold dear and live by, not on their race, colour of their skin, etc, or where their parents came from.
I hope that Rupert has not gone completely barmy on this. Clearly to throw out families who are not ethnically British (i.e. abide by and respect UK law) who are proven to have aided and abetted those who are found guilty of carrying out crimes in the Gang Rape Enquiry deserve to be deported as much as those who carried out the crimes.
But to say that all those who do not have British ancestry should be deported is totally round the bend. I hope that Charlie Downes is not really holding this as a policy – it would show that he is quite incapable of thought, and only capable of bias.
As my mum always used to say – and she lived abroad a great deal with my father during and after the Second World War adapting to other cultures and mores – a ‘behaviour bar’ was what was needed everywhere. When in Rome, etc.
I do hope that what is being termed ethno-nationalism will be kicked into the long grass by Rupert and Restore very soon, otherwise I feel they will lose much level-headed support, such as Kathy Gyngell.
