Dear Editor
OUR Prime Miniser may be at a loss as to how to respond to demands for the slavery reparations that George Soros has so generously funded and he might want to consider this response:
Dear Friends in the Caribbean and on the Barbary Coast, etc
We ourselves are still awaiting reparations from the Romans, Vikings, Normans and the Barbary Coast.
But we’ve reviewed history and can recommend that you ask for reparations from Benin, Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Cameroon, Chad, Nigeria, Ghana and Mali for capturing and selling slaves to Europeans
Meanwhile, given Britain led the way in ending slavery, spending an astonishing 40 per cent of our entire national budget in 1833 to buy freedom for slaves, and a further 2 per cent of our GDP on the West Africa Squadron which seized over 1,600 slave ships and freed 150,000 (at a cost of 1,600 Royal Navy sailors), we would like you to thank us by offering to pay 40 per cent of our annual budget this year and 2 per cent of our GDP.
That’s £480billion, plus £11.4billion.
We can settle for £450 billion if that’s easier (we estimate this will be the size of Rachel Reeves’s black hole’).
The invoice is in the post!
Love Britain.
PS. In the meantime we hope that you appreciate the benefits that you have gained from British discoveries and innovations, along with the Industrial Revolution, if not from overseas aid.
