Letter of the day – The Conservative Woman

Dear Editor

On Sunday, Laura Kuenssberg of the BBC rightly challenged government minister Steve Reed on the range of Iranian intercontinental ballistic missiles, but he didn’t seem to know the answer even though it is common knowledge that their potential range is around 4,000km (2,486 miles).

It would have also been nice to know if they can carry a nuclear warhead and how effective the UK’s nuclear shield is, but she failed to ask those questions.

They are particularly important since the Iranian regime may be little influenced by the MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) concept which held sway during the Cold War.

Indeed, in the 9/11 atrocity, 19 terrorists were happy to sacrifice their lives, in exchange for around 3,000 supposed non-believers.

But sadly many, including Mr Reed, seem to think that it is possible to come to a peaceful settlement with a regime which is committed to destroy Israel and its people.
