Letter of the day – The Conservative Woman

Dear Editor

LABOUR may have officially accepted that they will not delay local elections in May, but this does not mean that they do not intend to use all the means that the Party can bring to bear to corrupt them.

Labour-controlled Wakefield Council has issued poll cards for at least one polling district with an error in the address of a polling station, describing it as being in a street different from the street on which it is situated.

Contact with Wakefield Electoral Services produced a reply stating that they were aware of the error but it would be too expensive to send out corrected poll cards to the voters affected. I wonder whether this is really due to budget constraints or simply a view that the electors’ concerns are beneath the contempt of the politicians and officials running the council, and whether this is something that is happening in other local authorities.
