Many American wars have been controversial, but few people question whether World War II was a good war.
Yet, to hear every talking head on TV or every Democrat, save a few, it would have been one long string of war crimes by the Allies.
I’m not just talking about the dropping of the atomic bombs or the firebombing of Tokyo and Dresden, but pretty much the entire war. The United States and our allies systematically attacked German and Japanese infrastructure, leaving behind a trail of (unfortunate) civilian casualties, and basically leveled the country of Germany.

For technological reasons, the strikes were far less precise than today, and our bombing and ground campaigns certainly left a lot of bridges and other infrastructure destroyed.
In fact, in every modern American war and conflict, we have targeted infrastructure, because infrastructure is, in most cases, “dual use.” Can anybody seriously argue that the IRGC does not use bridges and power plants to further its war effort? The idea is absurd on its face.

By today’s standards, almost every president in modern times is a war criminal. That’s because wars inherently demand destruction, and intense wars include lots of destruction.
Ask the Ukrainians, who have routinely and in recent times quite effectively targeted bridges and Russian power infrastructure. It’s striking that none of the people howling from the rooftops has complained about this. In fact, they work assiduously to ensure that Ukraine has more weapons to do so.

I’m not complaining about that. Russia is worse, just as Iran has engaged in horrific terrorism. Not that Ukrainians are committing war crimes. A defensive war requires ruthlessness as much as marching into a country.
The list of Ukrainian strikes on bridges and energy infrastructure is long, as it should be. The line between civilian and military is often blurry, unfortunately.

Many of the same people who are decrying Trump’s threats are enthusiastic supporters of the “Palestinian” cause, calling it anti-colonial self-defense. Palestinians routinely and as a matter of strategy target civilians, using suicide bombers, indiscriminate rocket attacks, and all manner of terrorist tactics.

Now, the same regime is calling on those parents to send their children to power plants to be used as human shields.

Iran is—right now, in fact—recruiting human shields to protect targets. Many NGOs are calling for precisely this, in fact. There is steady propaganda encouraging the martyrdom of civilians and children, and Iran is proudly recruiting children as young as 12 into the military.

So spare me the moralist bulls**t. None of these people complaining believe any of it. It is a psyop. For months the Democrats have been calling on the military to refuse orders, attacking the civilian control of the military, and a few have even suggested that the military remove Trump entirely.
