Freshly back from his trip to Barcelona to hobnob with “progressives” (read: socialists and communists) in Barcelona, Senator Chris Murphy is now openly cheering for Iran to win the war against the United States.
🚨New: Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy went to Barcelona today to trash President Trump:
“Want to bring you greetings as well from a nation that is in crisis. This is the most significant threat to American democracy since the Civil War.”

I have been arguing that Democrats want the United States to lose, and there are still some skeptics out there. Sure, they say, Foreign Policy Magazine wrote that Iran should win, and Tom Friedman, the center-left’s favorite pundit, doesn’t want Trump to win, but surely no elected Democrat would openly wish for US military defeat, would they?
Year of our Lord 2026: Democrat US Senator openly rooting for Iran to defeat the US in battle. Every Dem on the Hill ought to be hounded today by every reporter to answer for this lunatic. pic.twitter.com/8ixSVsGFRo

Why yes, yes one would. And it’s not Rashida Tlaib. It’s Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy, one of the Democrats’ most reliable lefty liars and America haters.
A reminder of what I exclusively reported in 2020. You later admitted my reporting was correct. pic.twitter.com/XMqGfBTFnA

Murphy, who has a history of palling around with Iranian regime officials, has been one of Trump’s most vocal critics on…everything, really. Including the Iran war. He blasted Trump for the blockade, and now is rooting for Iran to evade it.
We are spending billions to keep our entire navy in the Strait to fecklessly fail to open a waterway that wasn’t closed until Trump’s pointless war of choice closed it.
He’s just burning your tax money. pic.twitter.com/TVwfALJ80S

As Jonathan Turley has pointed out, there was, until recently, a norm—Democrats love norms, right?—that politics stops at the waters’ edge. Honestly, it was honored more in the breach than in the observance, particularly because Democrats tend to root against US victory in wars they didn’t start, and often in wars that they did, such as Vietnam.
…For decades, U.S. politicians followed the model of the “loyal opposition” in times of war. Of course, when John Hobhouse used that term in 1826, he could hardly imagine the likes of Chris Murphy applauding alleged Iranian propaganda.

Democrats, though, are in the midst of pushing a color revolution, with talk of war crimes, demands that soldiers disobey orders, dark hints of military coups, and open discussions of civil war.
Tim Walz, who earlier this year declared that Minnesota was at war with the federal government, was the other featured American speaker in Barcelona. He, too, was cheered on as he defended Iran, claiming that it presented no threat at all.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz:
We’ve got a feeble-minded, trigger-happy president who plunged us into a war where no threat was present, with no clear objectives and no exit plan.
We need to call that what it is. That’s fascism—or at least it’s fascist-curious as they would be. pic.twitter.com/cDtfWrBM7v

The hell of it is…rooting for Iran will not hurt Murphy a bit with Democrats. Iran has been Orangewashed in the Democrats’ eyes; since Iran opposes Trump and Israel, two of the most hated entities in the world for lefties, it really must be all right. That’s how Hezbollah and Hamas became heroes for much of the left, with Democrats loudly denouncing Israel for trying to destroy actual terrorists who rape, murder, and randomly fire rockets into civilian populations.
What’s a suicide bomb or two among friends? We have Jews and conservatives to kill!
It will be interesting to see how Murphy explains this X post. Was he hacked? Was it a joke? (Quite the joke, right?). Or will he just say that it’s Trump’s fault?
For that matter, will his colleagues even be asked to justify or condemn the comment?
