Tennessee Conservative News Staff –
Police on both ends of the state have been working to bring those accused of crimes against children to justice.
Accusations of assaulting students have been brought against two McNairy County Schools employees in separate incidents.
In one of the cases, 49-year-old Megan Day was accused of pulling a 9-year-old non-verbal student at Selmer Elementary School across a rug after grabbing his lower body.
Police were notified after another teacher noticed the child crying and attempting to rub his back. The teacher saw a “blood red mark” on the child’s back, and the school nurse reported that she saw a “carpet burn.”
School administrators were notified and police were called.
65-year-old Sequoia Ann Hively, a cafeteria worker at Selmer Middle School, was arrested on March 13 after a video emerged that showed her slapping a 15-year-old student on the back of the head.
According to police, the boy’s father was notified by school administrators of the alleged assault. The student reported to the nurse, stating that it hurt when it happened, but no injuries were found.
The father says he was told Hively would not be returning to work, but then says he found out at parent-teacher conferences that she would be coming back.
He then took the video to the district superintendent who said Hively would not return to work until an investigation was completed.

In Knoxville, the regional director of Perfect Game – the largest baseball scouting organization in the world – was arrested and charged with patronizing for prostitution and solicitation of a minor as well as patronizing prostitution for someone under 15.
44-year-old Christopher Goodrich was taken into custody in a human trafficking sting operation on Tuesday, April 21.
According to police reports, Goodrich went to a hotel on Papermill Dr. to meet someone who he thought was a 14-year-old.
He had communicated with two undercover agents, one of whom was pretending to be a minor, and had agreed to pay $200 for sex acts with the minor.
Goodrich previously coached the Tennessee Nationals baseball team and had been named as the regional director for Perfect Game in 2025. The organization has confirmed that he is no longer employed with the company.
