A Hispanic man was taken into custody following a police chase in Nashville after he threatened residents of an Antioch neighborhood with a firearm and was later placed on an immigration detainer hold.

When officers responded to multiple reports of a man in a black Dodge Charger allegedly brandishing a weapon and blocking the road near Artemis Drive and Dowdy Drive, they found Victor Martinez-Alencoste inside the vehicle with his face hidden behind an article of clothing and with a gun in view.

According to court documents, the license plate of the Charger was registered to a different vehicle, a Ford Fusion.

Attempts at a traffic stop led to the defendant running from law enforcement in which the Tennessee Highway Patrol assisted with a helicopter unit. After a brief pursuit, spike strips successfully disabled the Charger’s tires but not before Martinez-Alencoste ran a stop sign where other cars were navigating the intersection.

After abandoning the vehicle near Bowfield Road and Reeves Road, Martinez-Alencoste took off on foot, running into nearby woods. He was caught after Metro Police tracked him with a K-9 unit.

Martinez-Alencoste was booked into Metro jail, where his race was listed as “white,” and charged with two felonies among other charges. Bond was set at $77,000.
