Letter of the week: The value of hereditary peers
Dear Editor
So many of us already find Britain today unrecognisable, but last week they removed the last of the hereditary peers, and you easily could have missed it. But for TCW’s wonderful article. They were always an easy target for criticism, but their presence was unique, serving as a form of independence in an increasingly politicised system.
We will regret this.

The silence of Reform
Dear Editor
I live in NW London and have had no Reform flyers through my door ahead of next week’s elections. Where is Reform? Do they only care about headlines elsewhere? I thought they’d have been more on it.

First the Jews, then the Christians
Dear Editor
The British MSM reaction to the stabbing of two Jews in Golders Green has been depressingly predictable. Blame Prevent. ‘Man had history of mental illness’. Police chief reading from a script, spews out virtues of our diverse and inclusive society!
Starmer? Words fail me, as they did him! And Starmer, that ‘not our war’ Starmer, was rightly heckled as a traitor!
No one in the British MSM mentions that the alleged attacker has simply followed the instructions of the famed texts of Islam, namely the Koran and the Hadiths. No one mentions that his actions have been praised by the IRGC, (according to some websites run by foreigners) by that same IRGC which has actually claimed responsibility for this attack! This is the same IRGC which still legally has followers in the UK, followers who probably vote Labour or more likely now, Greens!
The Labour party, the Greens and even now Reform are all courting the votes of this enemy of the Jews.
First the Jews. Next the Christians!

Is btinternet.com censoring the email you receive?
Dear Editor
Just for info, Kathy, it’s happened again! My TCW Daily Email stopped arriving. It suddenly occurred to me that I’d not seen it for several days. A check showed none in my inbox since 21/04/26.
You’ve told me before that having a btinternet email address is the problem – that BT bounces emails from The Conservative Woman back to the mailing server you use, MailerLite, which after three such bounces unsubscribes you. You also told me that I am not the only ‘btinternet address’ reader this happens to, that, in fact it’s happened to most of us, but that there is little you/we can do about it, except resubscribe. So as you have previously advised I’ve resubscribed.
However what lies behind this with BT surely deserves investigation? I suspect BT being a giant PIA provider (and a suspect one at that) of rejecting ‘unacceptable content’ no matter how inoffensive – like an email I sent to a mate on Wed night about an LFC U18 v MU game, no swearing or near the bone language. I’ve long had the suspicion that companies like BT have no compunction monitoring political leanings and discriminating against those with non ‘London’ views through these damn algorithms. I am sure it’s going to get even worse via A1.
I know other readers will tell me to switch my email server but I should say that I’m very much an old technophobe – I don’t have a smart phone and my Nokia E72 is only ever used for texts and calls (and few of those!)
However I hope it’s going to be a subject on which there’ll be plenty of comment from Messrs North, Newsome, Jupp and so on!
