The Tennessee Conservative [By Paula Gomes] –
Legislation mandating that insurance companies selling policies for medical transition must also include coverage for detransitioning passed the Senate Finance, Ways, and Means Committee on Tuesday in an 8 to 3 vote with Republican Senator John Stevens (R-Huntingdon-District 24) voting no.
The bill now heads to the Senate Calendar Committee.
Sponsored by Senator Brent Taylor (R-Memphis-District 31), Senate Bill SB0676, a carryover bill from last year.
It was amended twice in committee and also requires gender clinics and insurance entities to report information regarding detransition procedures to the Tennessee Department of Health.
The companion House Bill (HB0754) sponsored by Representative Jeremy Faison (R-Cosby-District 11) has been placed on the House’s Regular Calendar for a vote on Thursday, March 26th, 2026.
