The Tennessee Conservative Staff –

A Chattanooga Preparatory School teacher is facing a number of charges, including kidnapping and child sex crimes.

Kenya White, listed as a 6th grade Guided Reading teacher on the school’s website, faces a total of 14 charges. Those charges include one count each of kidnapping and solicitation of a minor, along with 12 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Records show that White was indicted on Wednesday by a Hamilton County Grand Jury.

According to the indictment, White “..directly or by means of electronic communication, electronic mail or internet service, including webcam communications, did intentionally display to a minor child, or expose a minor child to, any material containing simulated sexual activity that is patently offensive.”

LocalNews3 reports that the charges come from an incident that occurred in February 2023.

No additional information has been provided on the specifics of the alleged incident. However, the charge of sexual exploitation of a minor means White allegedly exposed a child younger than 13 to sexual material via electronic communication. The solicitation of a minor charge alleges that White was involved in sexual activity with a child under the age of 18.

Chattanooga Prep administrators would not confirm any information related to White’s employment dates, but a student told LocalNews3 that White was a teacher at Chattanooga Prep when the incident allegedly occurred.

The school released the following statement about the situation: “Chattanooga Prep cannot speak to the facts surrounding the criminal charges. Please refer all questions to the Chattanooga Police Department or the Hamilton County district attorney’s office.”

White was placed in jail with a $10,000 bond on each charge.
