The Tennessee Conservative [By David Seal] –

As of publication time of this report, the national debt clock shows just over 36.5 trillion dollars of national debt, which is increasing by one million dollars every 19 seconds. Congressman Tim Burchett (R-Knoxville, Tennessee) constantly thinks outside the box to solve problems, including the looming national debt.

Burchett is proposing the Legislative Line Item Veto Act of 2025, an attempt to give the president the authority to propose cancellations of specific discretionary budget amounts.

“We’re just in too deep right now…President Trump needs every tool at his disposal so that we can begin to slowly dig ourselves out of this financial mess that we are in.” – said Tim Burchett

On related legislative action, Burchett, breaking with his previous record, voted in favor of H.R. 1968, the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2025 following a call from President Trump requesting his support. In that call, the president addressed Burchett’s concerns on a variety of topics.

“Since I’ve been here, this is the first time that actual cuts have been made and we have reduced the size of government,” – said Rep. Burchett. “There’s $14 billion worth of cuts to non-defense discretionary spending, and it doesn’t touch Medicare or Medicaid. I voted to keep the government open so that President Trump, his cabinet, and my colleagues and I can continue down the path of limited government.”

Finally, as a member of the DOGE Subcommittee, Burchett joined Chairwoman Marjorie Taylor Green (R-Dalton, Georgia) in sending a letter to the U.S. Attorney General and FBI Director to investigate an organized wave of attacks targeting Elon Musk and his Tesla dealerships.

In a press release from Greene, “Reports suggest that groups like Antifa, known for their history of domestic terrorism during the “Summer of Love” in 2020 following the overdose death of drug addict George Floyd, may be involved in the recent Tesla attacks.”
