THE ‘NO Kings’ protests – better described as the ‘Hate America Rally’ – have been turning out again this month. To borrow US deputy press secretary Abigail Jackson’s response: ‘Who cares?’ While they decry President Trump’s influence as dangerous or divisive, a closer look at his record reveals an America in many ways stronger, safer and more prosperous than it has been in decades. Let them shout into the wind!
They are protesting Trump’s ‘over-zealous’ use of presidential power. Admittedly, replacing ‘Sleepy’ Biden with a President who knows how to flex America’s muscles and has an agenda for positive change is a (welcome) shock to the system. However, what happens when we look at the outcomes of this ‘scary’ use of power? Americans have never had it better; they shouldn’t be protesting, they should be celebrating and here’s why.
Domestic record
Donald Trump was elected on the promise that he would secure the US border. With crossings at their lowest level in over half a century, it is fair to say that is a promise kept.
The numbers speak for themselves. In fiscal year 2025, which spanned four months of former President Joe Biden’s administration, US Border Patrol agents stopped 238,000 migrants crossing the southern border illegally. During Trump’s first eight months in office, there have been fewer than 9,000 illegal crossings recorded each month.
By enforcing stricter border controls and implementing policies to reduce illegal immigration, Trump acted to protect American families, preserve jobs, and uphold the rule of law. To those protesting, it might seem harsh; to everyday Americans, it was a necessary step in preserving national integrity.
As well as creating a safer America, he’s also got the economy flying. Once again, I’ll let the numbers do the talking. The unemployment rate is 4.3 per cent. The S&P 500 is up 10.7 per cent since he took office. Consumer confidence is at a ten-year high. The US is thriving while the ‘Build Back Better’ playbook gathers dust in the archives.
Americans are more prosperous and they finally have a secure border. Not only would I not be protesting if I was in the US, but frankly I’d like to see some of these results in the UK too!
Foreign policy
Not only is Trump providing security through border enforcement at home, but he’s also promoting security abroad. Nato has long been overly reliant on US military power. Since Eisenhower, occupants of the White House have pushed Nato members to bump up their spending, with only limited success.
In steps Trump, and in less than a year he has member states committed to 5 per cent of GDP spent on defence and the Secretary General calling him ‘Daddy’! In an increasingly dangerous and uncertain world, this can only be a good thing.
Then there’s his peace-making. The Nobel committee may have snubbed him, but the rest of the world saw the results. The overjoyed scenes in Israel as hostages were reunited with their families is far greater vindication for his efforts than any prize. That’s just one of the wars he’s been involved in ending too. The benefits of peace through strength have never been clearer, and the world is better for it.
Then you have the ‘No Kings’ no-hopers. Many are linked to Antifa, the left’s thuggish riot squad, and some even wear vile t-shirts mocking Charlie Kirk’s assassination. Compare Trump’s booming economy and peace-making to that and I know which side I’m on. No Kings? No brains.
