An East Tennessee teacher is on leave after being charged with stealing several hundred dollars worth of trading cards.
40-year-old James Gregory Creech, III, a special education teacher at Coulter Grove Intermediate School, was charged on Monday with theft under $1000.
An arrest warrant states that Creech was accused of stealing boxes of Topps NBA trading cards from a Target in Blount County on both December 1 and 2. The stolen cards were said to be worth $451.88.

Store employees told police that Creech was a “well-known shoplifter throughout Target stores in the area.”
Creech allegedly was seen in the store on December 1 with eight boxes of cards and two drinks. When he went through the self-checkout line, he scanned the drinks and only four boxes but placed all of the items in his bags.
When he returned to the store on December 2, Creech was again seen with eight boxes of cards. He scanned the least expensive ones but also placed the unscanned items in his bags.
A spokesperson for Maryville City Schools confirmed that Creech has been placed on leave pending an investigation.
