Fancy a game of political chess, mate?

AS THE nights draw in it is a good time to dust off that old chess set and engage in some stimulating competition. As an alternative you may wish to consider the new game of political chess. The following terminology will help you to play.

Pawn

A disposable individual who can be sacrificed at the behest of military/pharmaceutical/political interests to enhance their wealth and power.

Bad Bishop

A device whereby an Archbishop is inactive and refuses to report the nefarious activities of one of his colleagues.

Knight

An archaic procedure that allows characters such as Jimmy Savile, Chris Whitty, Sadiq Khan and Tony Blair to be given honours.

Rook

One of many types of bird chopped to pieces by wind turbines.

Castling

The practice of allowing criminal illegal immigrants to stay in country houses and castles at the expense of taxpayers.

Check

The need to see if your elderly neighbours are managing to survive without their winter fuel allowance.

Checkmate

When you discover your elderly neighbours have frozen to death.

Fool’s mate

A series of moves whereby innocent people are foolishly persuaded that an injection of an untested DNA-altering substance will be good for their health.

Scholar’s mate

A sleight of hand by doctors and so-called experts when they persuade hapless pawns to allow themselves to be injected with ‘safe and effective substances’ which may be deadly. As is the case with fool’s mate, scholar’s mate will bring a speedy end to the game.

Endgame

The introduction of digital identity and digital currency.
