The Tennessee Conservative [By David Seal] –

Former State Senator Frank Niceley has some fire left when it comes to public policy, especially in the areas of property rights, agriculture, economics, and constitutional issues. These topics and much more will be addressed in his new podcast.

Having served in the Tennessee House of Representatives and later in the State Senate, Frank Niceley will bring decades of wisdom and experience to the airwaves in a podcast that is dedicated to the patriotic woodsmen and their families that settled East Tennessee in defiance of the colonial British establishment. Those brave patriots would go on to fight as soldiers in the Battle of Kings Mountain, turning the tide of the Revolutionary War in the southern theatre of operation.

British Major Patrick Ferguson had threatened the Wataugans and other patriot settlers who had earlier crossed the Proclamation Line into the frontier if they failed to lay down their arms and pledge their loyalty to the British Crown, sending word to the unlawful inhabitants that he would “hang their leaders and lay their country to waste with fire and sword.” Ferguson considered the settlers who occasionally attacked he and his band of Loyalists as “barbaric and the dregs of mankind.”

The Patriots had the last word on October 7th, 1780, when they ambushed Ferguson at Kings Mountain, slaughtering 290 of the British Loyalists and Ferguson himself and taking 668 prisoners.

Niceley spent so much time sharing his wisdom with his senate colleagues about history and its relevance to current public policy that it earned him the title “Historian of the Senate.” Like his Patriot ancestors, he believes in freedom and independence.

The Tennessee Conservative News interviewed the producer of Niceley’s podcast for this news report.

“The podcast itself is called “Over the Mountain,” named for the Overmountain Men of the American Colonies. It’s a way for Frank to remind people that there’s always hope for a better future for our countries. Topics will span from agriculture to legislature and current events. He also wants to remind state legislators of how much power they have to improve the lives of their constituents.

Frank is genuinely a man of the people, and we’re lucky that his wisdom can continue to have a platform even as his time as our state Senator has ended.” – said Geneva DeCobert, Producer of Over the Mountain Podcast
