A man begging for change near a Chattanooga gas station is now charged with sexual battery after allegedly assaulting a driver.
According to a police affidavit obtained by NewsChannel9, the incident occurred on the night of June 21, 2024, at a 7/11 gas station located on Broad Street.
A woman says she was leaving the gas station after stopping for coffee on her way to work. As she was pulling out, 42-year-old Jackie Charles Lee walked up, asking for change.
She testified that she had difficulty understanding Lee because his speech was slurred and he appeared intoxicated.
The woman says he then reached over, placed his hand between her legs, and rubbed her private area.
The woman says she left and went to work, locked her door, and called police to make a report. Video from the gas station corroborated her story.
Police were finally able to locate Lee over the weekend, and he was arrested on Sunday.
