2025 data detailing criminal activity by illegal aliens in Tennessee shows Knox County near the top of the list, although analysts say data could be skewed.

According to a recently released report from the Tennessee District Attorney Generals Conference, Knox County reported the second-highest number of illegal aliens charged with or convicted of a crime last year.

The report, which was compiled using monthly data that was self-reported from 94 of the 95 counties in the state, showed that Knox County reported 941 people in the country illegally who were charged with a crime. The only county reporting more was Davidson County, with 2,477 illegal aliens reportedly committing crimes.

With the state’s total coming in at 11,344, Knox County arrests account for nearly 10% of those.

It was noted in the report itself that data collection was difficult because it was collected through a form that law enforcement agencies had to complete by hand and submit. Analysts were only able to track about 40% of the cases through to the actual courts.

“Several reporting errors invalidated responses, leading to their exclusion from the final analysis,” the report stated. “These errors include duplicate responses, invalid years… and non-offenses listed under ‘Charge(s).’”

The report also noted that some agencies reported citations along with charges, even though individuals who are issued citations are not usually detained. WLVT Channel 8 reports that this means data could be inflated.

In its introduction, the conference notes that the process is continuing to be improved as they determine how to more effectively gather the necessary data.
