Letter of the day – The Conservative Woman

‘THOU shalt not bear false witness’ is the ninth commandment in the Ten Commandments, which means it is forbidden to lie or give untrue testimony, especially in a way that could harm another person.

This commandment specifically prohibits false testimony in legal contexts, but also extends to general lying and speaking falsely against someone, which damages their reputation or causes other harm.

There can be no better example of the most serious possible breach of this commandment than what the BBC did to the speech of Donald Trump. There is no scope for discussion among Christian people.

The BBC people who have resigned and made public statements, and others who have made public statements which I have heard and read, do know right from wrong.

The religious teachings of what is right and what is wrong, the historic basis for the honourable behaviour of the British race, are Christian teachings. That is how the British learned what is right and good and what is wrong and bad.

Today I listened to ministers and politicians talking about this issue, many of them excusing and even defending the BBC. Not one of them appeared to understand that telling the truth is fundamental to civilised British human behaviour. British politicians have elevated this particular sin, breach of the ninth commandment, to a fine art form.

Donald Trump will be doing the British people a great service if he can completely destroy the BBC.

Shame on any BBC employee who does not immediately resign in disgust and in shame by association. How can any honest Christian accept payment for working for such an employer?
