Letter of the day – The Conservative Woman

Dear Editor

Actions, not words, define a politician and Nigel Farage is yet again failing to live up to his speeches. For a man who is aiming for the Prime Minister’s role, he has an unfortunate track record of getting all his big decisions badly wrong.

This is the man who, rather than withdraw just those parliamentary candidates who were standing against a ‘conservative’ who would support the ‘Leave’ position, folded his tent and handed victory to Johnson. We all know how that worked out.

In the autumn of last year Nadine Dorries ‘defected’ to Reform. The inconvenient fact that she was the advancer of the legislation for the appalling Online Safety Act was not seen as any sort of inhibitor to her recruitment.

Now Nadhim Zahawi has been welcomed into the Reform camp. Here is a man who promoted untested and experimental drugs as ‘safe and effective’, a claim for which he had no evidence and as so many people are discovering to their cost were anything but. Zahawi sought to mandate the use of these dangerous drugs yet he is being welcomed with open arms.

With people like these in Reform, how likely is it that any Establishment-rocking policies will ever be implemented?
