Ed Miliband’s reaction to upcoming fuel and gas shortages is to double-down on filling fertile farm fields with windmills and solar panels.
As usual these demands are not associated with any actual schedule of events.
For example, at what point in the future will the UK be self-sufficient in green energy creation? What year will that happen and will it take into account that green energy technology has a short shelf-life and will need to be replaced at some point? Will it mean filling every square foot of countryside and seas with green monstrosities?
If Red Ed is so smart he should be able to answer these questions off the top of his head, but no, he shies away from such detail, and we’ve yet to see any plans showing how many installations will be done each year, or where.
We’ve never had accurate figures, costed annually, on how much money the taxpayer will need to invest to achieve self-sufficiency, and I really think it is time we pressed the energy guru on exactly when his plans will come to fruition.
It is totally irresponsible, and indeed even criminal, for this Government to press ahead with another white elephant without explicit costs and implementation dates.
I suspect they won’t want to tell us because they find it too difficult to plan ahead with any degree of accuracy, given the many uncertainties associated with Net Zero ideology.
