My TCW week in review: Treated as pariahs for getting it right

ANOTHER week of defeatism by the MSM, Iran’s key allies (along with that delightful trio of European leaders Messrs Macron, Starmer and Merz). Depressingly, America’s suicidal left-wing liberals are no better. POTUS is up against it all ways round. Take the total capitulation to Iran in the Friday email from Foreign Affairs, which told us that America’s war on Iran had backfired, that Tehran will now set the terms for peace, that in the Hormuz Strait, Iran holds the advantage – and that America has no good options.

Then there was the resignation of Joe Kent, the director of the US National Counterterrorism Centre, in protest against the war. He bizarrely claimed that his wife had died ‘in a war manufactured by Israel’. In fact she was murdered in 2019 by an Islamic State suicide bomber in America’s war to destroy ISIS. Mahyar Tousi exposed the betrayal of a man so close to the top.

Over here we had Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, leader of the Telegraph’s ‘traitor corps’, sounding off with his ‘optimistic’ view that ‘Trump will chicken out and leave the Gulf to put out the fire that he has ignited’. Followed, I noticed, by the paper’s Washington team telling us that Trump has lost control of the war. As I commented last week, just willing on US defeat. That won’t happen, but no thanks to them.

I hope these people are ready for an Iranian-style caliphate coming our way should Iran be allowed to hold the world to ransom. Because we got a good taste of it last week in the Muslim takeover of Trafalgar Square for open-air prayers that the courageous conservative MP Nick Timothy condemned. For those who don’t follow X, here is what he said:

‘Too many are too polite to say this. But mass ritual prayer in public places is an act of domination. The adhan – which declares there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger – is, when called in a public place, a declaration of domination. Perform these rituals in mosques if you wish. But they are not welcome in our public places and shared institutions. And given their explicit repudiation of Christianity they certainly do not belong in our churches and cathedrals.

‘I am not suggesting everybody at Trafalgar Square last night is an Islamist. But the domination of public places is straight from the Islamist playbook. Trafalgar Square belongs to all of us. It is a national memorial to our independence and our salvation. Last night was not like a televised football match or a St Patrick’s Day celebration. It was an act of domination and therefore division. It shouldn’t happen again.’

Of course Sir Keir Starmer and Sir Sadiq Khan, Enemies Numbers One and Two of this country, lashed out at him. So did that forever leftie Tory Dominic Grieve and about 40 other MPs, as Daniel Jupp reported yesterday. Showing exactly which side they are on in the war we are waging at home.

Starmer should beware. Placating Muslims at home doesn’t work any better than placating them abroad. Only total submission is good enough. Mr Araghchi, Yvette Cooper’s Iranian counterpart whom she was eager to phone, made that pretty clear with his threat that British lives were at risk.

Did Starmer miss the spectacle of Australia’s Prime Minister, appeaser-in-chief Anthony Albanese, forced to flee the country’s largest mosque last week? There was nothing funny about seeing Albanese hustled out of a mosque full of Islamists ready to lynch him, despite the irony. Avi is right: appeasement never works. I doubt however that Albo will learn the lesson. Any more than Two-Tier Keir will.

They’ve both placed themselves on the wrong side of the war we have to wage at home. A continuation of the ‘war against the people’ that we at TCW have been consistently ‘awake’ to for years. To remind newer readers, our warnings about the establishment’s delusions go back years. We were right then – on the left-leaning Conservative Party that turned its back on marriage and motherhood, that embraced the feminism that fragmented society, that let the working classes go hang and was the precursor to our suicidally low birth rate. The BBC is not just ignoring the baby bust – it is driving it.

That’s why I cannot join in the fulsome tributes to Dame Jenni Murray, who has died. Her legacy, in my view, is disastrous. This, remember, was the woman who happily parroted Mary Wollstonecraft’s analysis of marriage as ‘legalised prostitution’. Her liberal ideas might have been fine for the entitled selfish few, but as Laura Perrins so brilliantly instructed the rest of us: whatever Dame Jenni Murray says, do the opposite. ‘Jenni Murray is wrong – babies need more mother time, not less’, Laura corrected her. Murray was the woman who banned the word ‘mother’ on her programme. However personally sad was her death, her influence, lauded by Harriet Harman, was pernicious and destructive.

We were right on Jenni Murray. As we were right to attack a Tory party that embraced her ideals, as well the wokery that followed – from multiculturalism to ‘protected characteristics’ (that led to tolerating Islamism) and trans rights. We were right again to attack the Tories’ Net Zero insanity, bad science, victim culture and ‘liberal’ approach to abortion and assisted dying. Yes, this was the Tories. The party that gave in to that left progressivism (that they are still yet to apologise for) that has led to the new dark age barbarism which the Lords vote for abortion to birth last week brought to final fruition.

Terrible news that I awoke to with the same sense of disbelief and despair that Andrea Williams of Christian Concern expressed here. Like her, we will continue to speak out against this depravity.

That is what we do at TCW – speak out on all those issues critical for the survival of Western civilisation, and argue them coherently on the basis of evidence and principle. We protested against lockdown on that basis. We challenged bio-weapon mRNA covid vaccines and vaccine harm denial. We featured journalists such as Sally Beck and doctors such as Angus Dalgleish who were blanked by the mainstream. We questioned the MSM’s ‘bellicose’ and propagandist (Boris Johnson) approach the Ukraine Russia war. Just as we are currently questioning their disloyal, defeatist, Trump Derangement Syndrome-driven succour to the Iranian regime. A war that equates to neither of the previous Middle East incursions, explained so well by Bruce Newsome yesterday, a war that the West really, really needs to win. Newsome’s articles and my own article on the wider strategic aims behind this war are typical of TCW’s truly independent approach to journalism.

We have always been ‘on it’. And we’ve never shied away from taking a stand, however unpopular. That’s why we’ve attracted ignored but brilliant journalists such as Danny Lockwood, telling how it’s been in the Islamic republic of Dewsbury for years. Yet, for putting our heads above the parapet each time (while others cowered or remained in a state of indoctrinated stupor) we have been treated as pariahs – demonetised and all but cancelled – treated as though we don’t exist. That’s the price of getting it right and daring to speak out. For being not quite so ‘nice’.

So despite all this incredible journalism we have had no help or support except from our readers. Who I am calling on again today. Because despite my last appeal we are still not raising enough money in ‘subs’ to cover our monthly costs. Last year we received a generous one-off donation that has tided us over till now. The brutal truth is that unless more people donate or increase their current subs, TCW will come to an untimely end in May.

So we need to know if you care. That’s why I am asking you to complete a survey telling us how much you rate and support TCW. The link is here.

It will help us to decide whether you think our battle, a labour of love that we are the first to admit we have far from won, is still worth fighting.
