Metro Nashville police arrested an illegal alien who is accused of going on a shooting spree with a stolen rifle on Wednesday.

Officers received a call on Wednesday morning stating that someone was driving a red sedan through the city and shooting at houses. They located 24-year-old Marcos Palacios-Amaya in a red Nissan on Antioch Pike near Harding Place.

They attempted a traffic stop, but Palacios-Amaya fled in the vehicle. He was detained near Bell Road and Dodson Chapel Road after police deployed spike strips.
According to police, Palacios-Amaya was seen carrying the stolen AR-15 rifle through Plaza Mariachi on Nolensville Pike.
Reports show that he is accused of firing shots over a 1 hour and 20 minute period in several different locations throughout the city and LaVergne:
- 3500 Block of Calais Circle
- The parking lot of Plaza Mariachi
- The parking lot of a strip shopping center located at 3804 Nolensville Pike
- A mobile home park on Waikiki Boulevard near Hawaii Road
When he was detained, police located the stolen gun, which was taken during a vehicle theft on Hickory Woods Drive on August 5.

Palacios-Amaya was on probation for a felony theft charge in Rutherford County and also has previous charges in Williamson County for auto burglary and felony theft. He also previously faced burglary and trespassing charges in Davidson County.
He is now facing charges of evading arrest, assault/reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon (vehicle), unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon, and theft of a firearm. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

Inmate records show that Palacios-Amaya has an immigrant hold. He will remain in custody until he is released to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. An ICE detainer most likely means he is in this country illegally.
