The Tennessee Conservative [By Olivia Lupia] –
One of President Trump’s first orders of business after Monday’s inauguration was signing an Executive Order officially creating the Department Of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which will work at, “modernizing Federal technology and software to maximize governmental efficiency and productivity,” along with theoretically slashing many federal programs, regulations, and even jobs.
Now, as the organization prepares to hit the ground running, a Congressman from Tennessee has been tapped to join the DOGE House oversight subcommittee.
Republican Congressman Tim Burchett (Dist. 2-Eastern Tennessee) took to social media on Tuesday revealing his selection by Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) to sit on the committee.
In an X post, Burchett said, “I was just informed by Chairlady @RepMTG that I will be on the @DOGE Committee. I appreciate the Chairlady very much.”
Greene announced her leadership of the oversight committee and its Republican members on Tuesday morning:
– Pat Fallon (TX)
– Brandon Gill (TX)
– Michael Cloud (TX)
– William Timmons (SC)
– Brian Jack (GA)
– Eric Burlison (MO)
– Tim Burchett (TN)
Greene also made an appearance in one of Burchett’s popular video updates after the committee’s first organizational meeting.
“It’s going to be a great committee and we’re gonna to come out blasting. And I’m very much looking forward to it. No sacred cows in this bunch, folks. You name it, we’re gonna go after it and we’re hopefully gonna save a ton of money for our country,” Burchett said.
According the New York Post, DOGE has reportedly already begun implementing some cuts with the shuttering of the Chief Diversity Officers Executive Council, which was the “principal interagency forum to implement and sustain a national strategy for DEIA [diversity, equity, inclusivity, accessibility] across the Federal government and position the Federal government as a model for DEIA,” per its now-defunct website.
The Executive Order designates DOGE as a “Temporary Organization” slating it for closure on July 4, 2026, allowing 18 months for the department to fulfill its mission and functions.
