An illegal alien accused of shooting a woman in the face inside her Nashville apartment has been arrested, more than two years after the incident took place.
32-year-old Daniel Maradiaga-Hernandez was arrested on Tuesday, December 2, after police located him in a grocery store parking lot off of Dickerson Pike.
Records show that he was in possession of a Glock .380 pistol when he was arrested. This is the same caliber weapon used in the shooting.
Maradiaga-Hernandez is accused of shooting an unidentified woman in the face and jaw at point blank range early on June 9, 2023. The victim says that he became violent after she asked him to leave her apartment.
The search was handled by Detective Abigail Malone of the Specialized Investigations Division’s Non-Lethal Shooting Section. After learning the suspect’s identity, Malone found through social media that he had already fled to Miami, Florida. Florida law enforcement officials were unable to locate him, but Malone continued to monitor his social media and saw recently that he had returned to the Nashville area.
Maradiaga-Hernandez is being held in the Metro Jail in lieu of a $151,000 total bond.
Inmate records show that Maradiaga-Hernandez now has an immigrant detainer. He will remain in custody until he is released to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. An ICE hold most likely means he is in this country illegally.
