An illegal alien was recently arrested by the Portland Police on charges of multiple sex crimes against a child.
30-year-old Elias Tum Chic was arrested on January 23 after he was accused of sexually molesting a 10-year-old girl several times. He was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery and one count of attempted aggravated sexual battery.
Police Chief Jason Arnold said the girl displayed extreme bravery in her willingness to come forward and report Chic. Authorities were not sure of the relation between Chic and the girl.
“She was brave enough to come forward to tell her story and this happened more than once,” Arnold told News 2. Arnold also said that Chic reportedly offered her “five dollars to keep her mouth shut.”
Investigators say Chic had several different fake IDs and social security cards from both Texas and California on him at the time of his arrest.
“We got into his phone and found all kinds of evidence of identity theft and trafficking and other crimes that are way, way worse, so that is being investigated,” said Arnold.
Police found a number of graphic images on Chic’s phone, including one which appeared to show an execution-style murder.
Chic is an illegal alien from Guatemala. He is being held in the Sumner County Jail on a $300,000 bond.
He is also on an immigrant detainer hold. He will remain in custody until he is turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
