The Tennessee Conservative [By Paula Gomes] –
After action on a bill was deferred multiple times last month, Tennessee’s “No Pride Flag or Month Act” was taken off notice in the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.
Sponsored by Representative Gino Bulso (R-Brentwood-District 61), House Bill 1474 (HB1474) prevents Pride flags from being displayed in state-owned facilities – including public schools – and ensures that there is no governmental recognition of a “Pride Month.”
Along with outlawing the display of LGBTQ flags or emblems on state property or any political subdivision of the state, the mandate would apply to staff, volunteers, or agents of the state, working in their official capacity.
The Senate companion bill (SB2409), sponsored by Senator Joey Hensley (R-Hohenwald-District 28), failed in the Senate State and Local Government Committee on March 24th.
