Will it be legal to assault police officers in one of our biggest states?
Probably not, but with the radical left growing in power it might well come to pass.
That is the hope of Democratic state Representative Lisa Davis, who is an attorney in the Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender’s office and a member of the state legislature.
Because of course she is a prosecutor in Cook County. Where else could you find such an unhinged person outside California?

Nobody is so cherished as a violent criminal by the Left. Better yet, if they are transgender and a person of color, they can hit all the high notes that make Leftists swoon.
An Illinois lawmaker has introduced a bill that critics say will make it legal for anyone experiencing a mental health episode to attack police officers.
Democratic state Rep. Lisa Davis, an attorney in the Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender’s office, introduced House Bill 3458 in February.
Under the terms of the legislation, the bill would “[provide] that it is a defense to aggravated battery when the individual battered is a peace officer and the officer responded to an incident in which the officer interacted with a person whom a reasonable officer could believe was having a mental health episode and the person with whom the officer interacted has a documented mental illness and acted abruptly.”
It would be one thing if the idea was to get the mentally ill person help through committing them to a mental health facility, but that almost never happens in modern America. Mental illness–which is diagnosed in half of liberal women these days and vast numbers of other people as the definition has expanded–is an excuse, not a reason to commit people for their own good and the safety of others.
“If this passes, mental illness will be an excuse to attack and beat police officers,” the blog states. “In fact, who wants to bet there will be thousands of people who suddenly have doctor notes that permit them to attack cops?”
Davis’ proposal would legalize attacks on peace officers. Other first responders would be spared, such as firefighters, like her husband, CWB Chicago reported.
As you can see, only assaults on police officers are excused, nobody else. Which, shall we say, calls into question the premise that this is about mental illness rather than justifying attacking police officers.
It is a pro-assault bill, declaring open season on police officers. That’s it.
Normally I would have faith that the bill would die an ignominious death, and it probably will, but given how insane Democrats have become on matters of criminal justice and just about every other issue, you can’t be certain. After all, California legalized shoplifting for several years, and that didn’t work out well. And if this were only about Cook County, you could be certain that the Mayor of Chicago would be enthusiastically supporting the measure.
He would probably have beating cops as part of the Teachers’ Union contract. You get one assault on a police officer a month, and a pay raise if you break a bone.
Damn, I shouldn’t have said that out loud. Watch for that to be inserted into the next union contract, along with a bonus for each illegal alien criminal you help escape justice.
Democrats have gone insane backing criminals, illegal aliens, killing babies up to birth, and chopping off kids’ genitals. What is a little thing like beating up cops to them?
