A 75-year-old man has been charged by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) for soliciting a young girl for sex at a gym.

TBI began an investigation in August at the request of the 3rd Judicial District Attorney General Dan Armstrong, regarding allegations against Jack Mullins, a Hancock County School Board member.

Mullins is accused of approaching a juvenile female at a Sneedville fitness center and trying to get her to have sex with him.

He has been indicted on two counts of Solicitation of a Minor and one count of Official Misconduct.

On Monday, Mullins was arrested and booked into the Hancock County Jail on a $25,000 bond.

Hancock County Schools Director Charlotte Mullins said in a statement yesterday that the safety of the community’s children is a priority of the school system.

“Though Hancock County Schools understands all criminal defendants in the United States are deemed innocent until proven guilty, we as a school system – and as a school board – want to ensure the Hancock County community of our constant focus on the safety of children, and of our trust in law enforcement and the legal process,” said the director.
