Sunday Smiles – HotAir

It’s rare that your opponents do something so perfect that you could, if people actually paid attention, destroy their entire shtick just by pointing to it.

Or at least it used to be. Now, the media is so lazy that they will just print the version of the story that helps the Democrats, no matter how absurd it is.

We’ve seen that with the Democrats’ complaints about the Virginia redistricting decisions in the Virginia and U.S. Supreme Courts, where the most obvious decisions in the world—that the Democrats violated the Virginia Constitution in their redistricting push—have been turned by magic into a racist plot by MAGA to disenfranchise black Virginians and bring back Jim Crow.

Everybody is pretending that democracy itself was stabbed in the back by Republicans, when in fact the Democrats tried to silence the voices of Virginia’s Republicans through unconstitutional means.

My favorite example of Democrats using propaganda that can easily be debunked, if only the media cared, is Zohran Mamdani’s “Nakba Day” post, intended to drum up anger against Israel for displacing innocent, peaceful Palestinians in 1947.

The whole “Nakba” narrative itself is complete bunk—to the extent that Arabs were displaced in 1947, it was caused by the invasion of Israel by Arab countries that wanted to expel and/or exterminate the Jews in Israel. All Israel’s neighbors invaded her territory, and their war displaced some of the Arabs who decided to flee. They were not kicked out; the Arab countries made them refugees.

Mamdani ginned up sympathy for “Nakba” “survivors” using a perfect Pallywood narrative, focusing on a Muslim “Nakba survivor,” and in doing so exposed the fiction. Or should I say, exposed the fiction for those who care about reality, which is practically no Democrat.

😂 This “Nakba Survivor” is literally a “European settler”

In the late 19th century, Muslim Bosnians (including Inea’s grandparents), fled Bosnia to Ottoman Syria, after Austria-Hungary took control of Bosnia.

They feared that now, the Christians will seek revenge after years of mistreatment.

Inea’s father’s family lived in Tulkaram, but he himself lived in Jerusalem where Inea was born.

In the 1930’s, Inea’s father had a Job in England, he returned to Mandatory Palestine after a few years, but in 1948 they decided to move back to England.

They were not expelled, and no one forced them to move to England. As a matter of fact, Tulkaram, and the old city of Jerusalem remained under Jordanian Arab control. Not a single Zionist to bee seen there.

So in summary, this is a European with no strong roots in the land of Israel, whose family made the decision to immigrate back to the continent of their grandparents instead of remaining under Arab control.

(And the “visit Palestine” poster on her wall is a Zionist poster by Franz Kraus to encourage Zionist tourism to the holy land. It’s not even the original poster, but a replica of the poster, with an additional Hebrew description mentioning his name 🤦‍♂️)

Have you heard heard of the Levantine last name “Bushnak” (or Bushnaq, Boshnak, Bouchenak and Bouchnak)?

It means “Bosnian” and derives from the fact that in the late 1880s and early 1900s, some Bosnian Muslims, not wanting to live under Christian rule, emigrated to Ottoman Syria and Palestine and established communities there. (Those communities like those established by Algerians in what is today northern Israel, of course, are never referred to as “colonies” because they were Muslim. Which tells you a lot, actually)

Two Bosnian mosques were built in Caesarea alone.  Originally, they kept their unique customs and hired Arab labor, but eventually became “Arabized” and assimilated into Palestinian Arab society

A small number of Bosnian volunteers who were part of pro-Nazi collaborator movements came also in 1948 to fight against the establishment of the State of Israel

Jordan also has a community of Bosniak-Jordanians

It really is a perfect example of how deceptive the propaganda is. The basic claim on which the Israel-hating is based is that European colonizers displaced the indigenous Arabs, causing a humanitarian disaster. And the prime example that Mamdani trots out is a Bosnian migrant to “Palestine” whose ancestors had been oppressing Bosnian Christians and fled to the Middle East to avoid the consequences.

At the time of the “Nakba,” her family didn’t even wind up under Israeli jurisdiction. Before the creation of Israel, they lived under Muslim control, and after the creation, they lived in the Muslim-controlled region of Jerusalem. Their situation didn’t even change. They lived in Jordan both before and after.

It’s Pallywood.

For that matter, most “Palestinian” leaders have their ethnic roots from far outside “Palestine.” They are from neighboring countries, or at least their ancestors are. What binds them is not indigeneity, but revolutionary fervor.

The “Palestinian” narrative is complete BS, and always has been.

But none of that matters, because only The Narrative™ really does, so Zohran Mamdani, who is from Uganda, but whose ethnic roots are in India, making his family colonizers, can spin a yarn about the poor indigenous woman who was kicked out by the Israelis and make his followers cry in rage at Jews.

When you can ignore reality, it is much easier to sell your story, and when the people who control the cultural means of production back you, you are able to rewrite history and create new heroes and villains.
