The Tennessee Conservative [By Paula Gomes] –
Republican candidates in two Tennessee counties who were the targets of deceptive political communications from a political action campaign (PAC) allegedly impersonating conservative advocacy group Tennessee Stands have won their respective primaries.
Carter County Mayor and incumbent Patty Woodby defeated County Commissioner Danny Deal, and former state Representative John Holsclaw Jr. in securing the Republican nomination.
Woodby, who has served as mayor since 2020, will face off with three independent candidates come August.

In Sullivan County, Zane Vanover defeated Angie Stanley. Vanover is not expected face any candidates, independent or Democrat, in the general election in August.
Tennessee Stands submitted a complaint to the Tennessee Registry of Election Finance, calling for a full investigation, over communications distributed in Sullivan County.
Their complaint outlines four separate communications which the organization asserts were not authorized by Tennessee Stands and may violate multiple provisions of state law.
Tennessee Stands Executive Director Anne Lowery stated that the use of their name was not only unauthorized but appeared designed to mislead voters.
