Incumbent Tennessee legislators representing the Hamilton County area are reporting significantly more in campaign contributions compared to their challengers, with both Republicans and Democrats showing an edge as Tuesday’s election quickly approaches.

In District 27, Republican Rep. Michele Reneau listed $34,251 in contributions at the most recent reporting period with a balance of $56,513 showing currently on hand. Notably, almost 90% of Reneau’s contributions come from individual donors who are largely within Tennessee, leaving PACs and organizations at only about 11% of her total donations.
Her Democrat challenger Paige Quirin did not report any receipts.

District 28 incumbent Rep. Democrat Yusuf Hakeem reported $9,850 in new funds, boosting his war chest to $31,361 while Republican Johnny Horne and Independent Demetrus Coonrod did not report any donations.
Republican Rep. Greg Vital in District 29 shows a hefty $445,061 balance and picked up $9,350 in contributions this quarter, significantly outpacing Democrat challenger Ryan Scofield who reported a beginning balance of just over $1,400 and $1,070 in new receipts.

District 30 Republican incumbent Rep. Esther Helton-Haynes also shows a large chunk of cash on hand, reportedly adding $10,500 to her beginning balance of $99,454. Democrat challenger Art Rymer shows $2,213 on hand, $1,000 of which appears to have come from a personal loan back in April.
In the District 11 Senate race, Republican Bo Watson has almost $500,000 with $49,322 in new contributions. In comparison, Democrat Tim Roberts reported a total of $3,224 in the coffers.
And Republican Greg Martin is running unopposed in District 26 with $213,740 in the bank.
