All 5 campuses of Lakeway Christian Schools in east Tennessee will be celebrating the founding of our nation as it recognizes the 250th anniversary of the United States with a variety of learning activities for students.

May 4th is set aside to immerse students in multiple hands-on learning activities about the history of our founding.

The Superintendent of Lakeway Christian Schools announced their 250th celebration to the Tennessee Conservative News and added the following remarks.

“This special day is designed to be both educational and celebratory, giving students the opportunity to step into the story of America’s founding in a memorable, hands-on way. Through historical activities, colonial games, actors, patriotic attire, a themed lunch, and schoolwide celebration, students will learn more about the colonial period, the founding of the nation, and the enduring importance of the United States Constitution.

Lakeway Christian Schools is grateful for the opportunity to bring our school community together to celebrate this historic milestone in our nation’s story. As America prepares to mark 250 years, our hope is that the America 250 Celebration will be a joyful and memorable day filled with learning, reflection, community, and celebration—one that helps students appreciate the significance of this anniversary and take part in a shared moment of gratitude for the history and future of the United States.” – said Dr. Kevin Cline, Lakeway Christian Schools

One of the activities for the celebration is constitutional education. Each child will receive a personal copy of the United States Constitution, provided by The 917 Society. This gift will allow students to hold, read, and learn from one of the most important documents in American history while better understanding the responsibilities and privileges of citizenship.

The founder of the 917 Society commented on Lakeway’s activities as follows.

“Seeing students receive their own copy of the Constitution as part of an America 250 celebration is exactly why The 917 Society exists.  When a child holds that document in their hands, history becomes personal — and the responsibilities of citizenship become real. Lakeway Christian Schools is giving their students a gift that will last far beyond May 4th, and we are deeply grateful to be part of it. This is what it looks like when a school community invests in the next generation of informed, engaged citizens.” said Joni Bryan, Founder & Executive Director, The 917 Society

Their activities do not stop with constitutional education. Students will be invited to dress in colonial attire, wear the special LCS Commemorative America 250 shirt created for this event, or dress in red, white, and blue. The goal is to fill our campuses with a spirit of patriotism and celebration as students take part in this historic anniversary.

Colonial actors will help students imagine life during America’s founding era by portraying elements of colonial life, culture, and history. These living history moments will give students a more vivid understanding of the people, places, and experiences that shaped the early story of our nation.

Students will participate in Colonial-style games and activities that reflect how children may have played, learned, and spent time during the founding era. These interactive experiences will help make history feel real, active, and engaging. They will also enjoy a colonial times themed lunch as part of the day’s immersive experience, helping connect the celebration not only to history lessons and activities, but also to daily life and culture from America’s founding era.

In order to teach citizenship, students will take part in activities that provide historical background on the colonial period, the founding of the United States, and the significance of the Constitution. The celebration is intended to deepen students’ appreciation for American history while encouraging thoughtful reflection on liberty, responsibility, and civic life.

Lakeway Christian Schools stated that it is committed to academic excellence, superior athletics, and fostering environments for unbridled student creativity in music and the arts while educating children in a Christ-centered environment.

The following Lakeway schools are participating in the celebration.

• Lakeway Christian Academy

• Cornerstone Christian Academy

• TriCities Upper School Christian Academy

• TriCities Lower School Christian Academy

• TriCities Early Learning Center Christian Academy
