Letter of the day – The Conservative Woman

Dear Editor

On Saturday the whole of central Exeter was taken over by a celebration of homosexuality, as the city submitted to the will of these propagandists of perversion. The buses were kept from using the High Street and forced to join an already-gridlocked ring road, which meant that a 15-minute journey into town took more like three-quarters of an hour.

But apart from the inconvenience, which was merely annoying, the most shocking thing was the way in which so many children, particularly girls, of all ages had been seduced by the pretty colours of the rainbow and thus persuaded to drape themselves in cloak-sized rainbow flags, have their faces daubed with rainbow colours and wave rainbow flags and bunting. Having stolen the word ‘pride’, the activists have now narrowed the significance of a rainbow for it to signify only what they want it to mean.

Now I’m the first to acknowledge that what consenting adults get up to in private is entirely their own business, but this massive propaganda event, exploiting children’s natural fascination for brightly-coloured objects, with the intention of making queerness (their word, not mine) seem not only perfectly normal, but actually respectable, to children as young as seven or eight, was as shocking as it was repulsive.

Even the Morris dancing troupe performing on the Cathedral Green were presenting themselves as group of lesbians, waving rainbow-coloured tassels instead of their normal white ribbons. But perhaps the most shocking sight was a young mother carrying a baby, not yet old enough to walk, in a harness, with the tiny girl wearing rainbow-striped tights, in celebration of this oh, so very adult event.

I couldn’t help musing what will happen to this ever-more blatant and shameless generation of activists in the not-so-distant future, when the Taquiyya finally stops and they start getting thrown off high buildings.
