Ilkley, where I live, gets a big turnout at elections. Our Conservative MP Robbie Moore is extremely hard-working. He answers every question I’ve put to him. He’s bravely taken on the rape gangs, when our neighbouring town Keighley has a high Muslim population. He wants to take Ilkley out of Bradford as a separate constituency. Unfortunately he has to drag Keighley with it, but still miles better than being in Bradford.
I had to go into Keighley once. I felt a bit peckish and fancied a hamburger. Then I saw the proud notice in the window. ‘We guarantee all of our meet is Halal.’ And I guarantee I won’t go there.
Muslims are slowly creeping into these ‘white flight’ towns from Bradford. At the moment, the only Muslims in Ilkley are in the curry houses. But Bingley has a large Muslim population. As in Dewsbury there is very little mixing. We have no mosques in Ilkley. This is not true of most towns around here.
I’m not sure about Starmer, like many people. He’s definitely Farage’s biggest asset, but think of the damage he can do with 2-3 more years!
