Dear Editor
As seen from last year’s Iberian power failure, an increasing threat to power supplies comes from the rise in solar power capacity.
We now have over 20GW of roof-mounted solar electric panels which are not even on NESO’s radar, along with over 15GW in solar farms.
If the grid demand is low and their voltage output exceeds the trip limit, we could see cascade failure, similar to that seen in Spain.
But conditioning by the government and media seeks to allocate the blame in advance to wildfires.
