Now I believe in what you say is the undisputed truth, but I have to have tabs my own way to keep me in my youth …
Moments Ago: A visibly agitated Hakeem Jeffries says “I stand by” calling for “maximum warfare” against Republicans.
“You can continue to criticize me for it, I don’t give a damn about your criticism!”
Unhinged. pic.twitter.com/AxINVt4HZA

Ed: Hakeem Jeffries demonstrates that the call for violence comes from the mainstream Democrat Party. The assassination fashion isn’t just from the fringe. Jeffries is arguably the co-leader of the Democrats and may well be the Speaker of the House next year, and he’s pushing “maximum warfare” against his political opponents 36 hours after an assassination attempt. Despicable.
===
Fox News: “Although we don’t yet have the details about the motives behind last night’s shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner, it’s incumbent upon all us to reject the idea that violence has any place in our democracy,” Obama wrote on X. “It’s also a sobering reminder of the courage and sacrifice that U.S. Secret Service Agents show every day.[“] …
Authorities have identified the suspect as 31-year-old Cole Allen of California, who allegedly opened fire at the Washington Hilton during the annual event attended by Trump and senior administration officials.
Federal law enforcement officials confirmed to Fox News Digital that after Allen’s arrest, he said he intended to target Trump administration officials and had prepared a manifesto detailing his intent, while also sharing anti-Trump and anti-Christian rhetoric on social media.
Ed: It was a lie when Obama posted it. It was clear that the perp intended to target Trump and other members of the administration and news of the manifesto had already been reported. This was part of the Left’s usual attempt to distance itself from the violence it provokes. Maybe Obama should tell Temu Obama above to stow it if he wants us to take his concern trolling on Twitter seriously.
===
CNN security correspondent Josh Campbell says we 100% percent know the WHCD shooter’s motives thanks to his manifesto:
KATE BOLDUAN: You’re a former FBI agent. What do you make of the man’s writings that he sent to family just before the attack?
JOSH CAMBELL: Well, look, you… pic.twitter.com/rOI0yZONRu
— Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) April 27, 2026
Ed: Yeah, this is not a mystery at all. And as for the issue about the Butler assassin, I suspect that investigators know more than they have said about the motive in that case, too.
===
Tom Knighton: See, when you look at each of these points, there’s a leftist talking point that was created to spin things to make Trump look bad, all part of the narrative, and this guy believed every single one. He bought it completely, and he let that shape everything about how he viewed the president.
The problem is, he wasn’t willing to wait until 2028. He wanted Trump gone now, so he lied to friends and family, brought his guns all the way from California, and tried to kill the president and as many members of the administration as he could.
He wanted to upend the entire nation, bring everything to a screeching halt, and likely destroy the Democrats’ chances in the midterms—because let’s be honest, the country would galvanize around the GOP—all because the media and leftist politicians all claimed that Trump was an existential threat to the United States of America. …
Attempts at impeachment failed to remove him from office, nor did they stop him from returning, so can we be surprised that so much vile rhetoric directed toward Trump took someone who was a die-hard Democrat, radicalized him, and put him on a collision course with the line of succession this past weekend?
Only if we’re morons.
Ed: This is by design. Progressives want a revolution, perhaps even more now after Trump won outright in the popular vote, because the only way they can make their agenda work is by force. This is the result of eleven years of “The Resistance” rhetoric from Democrats as they pander to radicals, and as the radicals take over the country. Jeffries wants “maximum warfare” against Republicans in a literal sense, because why else would he say it after a third assassination attempt on Trump?

Newsmax: The shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner should prompt the Secret Service to reconsider whether it is wise for President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance to attend the same events, Rep. Michael McCaul told CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday.
The Texas Republican said that “the takeaway I got was the line of succession. You had the president and the vice president at the head table, both of them together, and the speaker of the House [Rep. Mike Johnson]. Had an explosive device gone off, you would have knocked out the president, vice president, speaker. The three in line of succession.”
McCaul noted that 92-year-old Sen. Chuck Grassley, as the president pro tempore of the Senate, “would be the president had they all been taken out.”
He emphasized: “I think the Secret Service needs to reconsider having both the president and vice president together.”
Ed: First, a pedantic point – that’s not up to the Secret Service. It’s up to the president and vice-president. The Secret Service provides security for both but do not control how or where they operate. With that said, the decision to have so many in the line of succession at the same event in the security environment by the USSS is a point worth debating. However, the main issue is that the USSS needs to improve its security designs and execution dramatically.

For those wondering how on earth a @Caltech graduate becomes a would-be assassin, this is your reminder that the Great Awokening was especially demented in California, and that there is no pendulum magically swinging back to sanity in the established universities.
— Niall Ferguson (@nfergus) April 26, 2026
Ed: This is an excellent point. This is one reason why I called to “decolonize Academia now” in the wake of the campus riots supporting Hamas after the October 7 massacres. Higher education has been degraded down to political indoctrination and re-education camps run by radical leftists. The government needs to stop funding it entirely. Let these schools operate as they wish, but only on whatever revenue they can generate on their own.
===
WSJ: On Saturday, a gunman rushed a security checkpoint at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Multiple administration officials were present, including President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, FBI Director Kash Patel and several cabinet members. All were quickly hustled out by Secret Service agents.
The incident, allegedly perpetrated by a 31-year-old Caltech grad, has refocused attention on rising violence in American politics. In January, a man broke windows at Vance’s home with a hammer. In March, the Justice Department charged two men with attempting to carry out an attack near New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s residence.
In fact, domestic attacks and plots against the U.S. government are at their highest levels since at least 1994, according to data from the Center for Strategic and International Studies. For the first time in 20 years, they are coming from extremists on the left in greater numbers than the right, the center’s data shows. Of the 20 attacks and plots recorded in 2025, the center categorized 10 as originating from the extreme left and eight as coming from the extreme right.
Ed: I’m skeptical about the data and definitions used by the CSIS here. In 2020, cities had riots for weeks and months over the death of George Floyd, with demands to “defund the police” and attacks on federal buildings. The data show fewer than five “domestic attacks and plots targeting the US government” for that year coming from the Left. I wonder how many of those were ginned up by the SPLC, too.

We were there front and center.
That venue wasn’t built to accommodate an event with the line of succession for the U.S. government.
After witnessing last night, drop the TDS and build the White House ballroom for events exactly like these. pic.twitter.com/eeUBnlSe5y
— U.S. Senator John Fetterman (@SenFettermanPA) April 26, 2026
Ed: We should build the ballroom anyway, but this may not be the solution to events like the WHCD. That is a private event, not an official White House event. Unless Trump is suggesting that the White House can be rented out for private events – which sounds unseemly – the White House Correspondents Association would have to find a private venue regardless of whether it’s the Hilton. However, the White House should have the capacity to hold official events of this size.

NY Times: Rising oil and natural gas prices from the war in Iran are beginning to weigh on the Chinese economy, further slowing already anemic consumer spending and hurting critical export sectors.
Car sales fell in March and plunged further in April. Restaurants and hotels are seeing fewer customers as households turn cautious. In southern China, thousands of toy factory workers protested last week after their employer collapsed under rising plastic costs and ongoing tariffs in the United States. …
For many weeks, China had appeared to weather the fallout from the war, a view reinforced by fairly strong economic data through March. But with the war in its ninth week with no clear end, cracks are beginning to show.
“The economy is decelerating,” said Alicia García-Herrero, chief economist for Asia Pacific at Natixis, a French financial firm. China may struggle to meet this year’s growth target of 4.5 percent or more, she added.
Ed: Bear in mind that China’s economic data comes from its own government and is routinely inflated. If they’re allowing signals of deceleration to emerge, the situation may be pretty bad. And it’s very interesting to see the NYT report this as a result of the war, while most media outlets want to paint Beijing as the big winner in this war, too.

Secretary Rubio just laid down the law over the Straits of Hormuz.

Ed: This is the strongest indicator that Trump’s not going to bite on Araghchi’s attempt to sell the same Persian rug twice when he couldn’t deliver it the first time.

Qatar has ended its two-decade relationship with Hamas and will no longer serve as host or mediator for the group, according to sources. Most of Hamas’ political leadership has already departed the country.

Ed: This is also an interesting development, if true. The downside: Turkey is discussing whether to host Hamas. The NATO issue may become very acute in the next few weeks.

Campus Reform: Harvard University hosted OnlyFans ‘model’ Ari Kytsya for a business class discussion on the adult entertainment industry, adding to concerns that elite universities are undermining their own prestige by elevating sexually explicit content and adult entertainers as subjects of academic seriousness.
Kytsya spoke at Harvard on April 22 about her career on OnlyFans and the business behind her work. According to an exclusive TMZ interview, she was invited to discuss taboo businesses and later defended the appearance, saying “haters” of her Harvard lecture need to “crack a book.” …
The following day, Kytsya spoke at the University of Washington in Psychology 210, a human sexuality course taught by Dr. Nicole K. McNichols. McNichols is a self-proclaimed “Sex Professor” who teaches students how to have “better sex.”
Ed: To quote an old punchline, we know what Harvard is, and now we’re just negotiating the price.
