There’s nothing worse than a man on a mission, and nothing more intractable headed to his goal than that man when he knows he’s right and has one helluva a score to settle.
That’s the story of Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt right now. The former reality TV star, who, after losing his home to the Palisades fire and being caught in the deadly, life-sapping oubliette of LA officialdom, with its maddening labyrinth of rules, regulations, corruption, and mendacity, decided he’d seen enough.
He’d complained enough and been blown off by city officials. He’d heard enough promises and watched as not one of them was fulfilled. As he’d watched neighbor after neighbor, crushed under the weight of their shared tragedy, leave in defeat, he became more and more radicalized, advocating for the help the area deserved and the answers the residents were absolutely owed.
In November, when US Senators Ron Johnson and Rick Scott came out to tour the area, Pratt was eloquent in his statement to their panel. His heartbreaking honesty when he asked, ‘Why is it I have senators from 2000 miles away who care enough to be here when I can’t get my own senator who lives 30 miles away to listen?’ touched everyone.
You need to stop what you’re doing and take a few minutes to watch @spencerpratt‘s devastating speech from the Palisades Fire field hearing today. God bless @SenRickScott and @SenRonJohnson for elevating the Palisades. https://t.co/fQNpgszlCK pic.twitter.com/Tokg15A5lA

This past January, Pratt threw his hat into the ring for the LA mayor’s race. And wouldn’t you know – the kerfuffle over his candidacy wasn’t about his advocacy for truth and justice, his calling for an accounting of the corrupt Karen Bass administration, the fly-by-night attention of unctuous Gavin Newsom, or even that Pratt had been a TV personality – still was to some degree.
No.
The horrified swoons from the media were over the fact that Spencer Pratt had registered to run as a REPUBLICAN.
Spencer Pratt’s GOP registration poses early test in LA mayor’s race
Oh, that hood might still have Palisades ashes blackening it, but you could tell they wanted to make it a white hood nonetheless.
Spencer Pratt says party labels don’t matter in his bid for Los Angeles mayor. But the former reality TV personality, who has long dodged questions about his political affiliation, is a registered Republican — a liability in this heavily Democratic city.
Pratt, 42, made the surprise announcement that he’s running for mayor this year from the stage at a “They Let Us Burn” rally in Pacific Palisades — held one year after a massive wildfire leveled the community. Pratt and his wife, fellow reality star Heidi Montag, lost their home in the blaze, which killed 12 people and destroyed more than 6,000 homes. Since the fire, Pratt has broadcasted sharp critiques over the handling of the fires to his millions of followers on social media largely attacking Gov. Gavin Newsom and LA Mayor Karen Bass, his Democratic opponent in the 2026 race.
Pratt declined to answer questions from POLITICO after his announcement, including about his party registration.
“It’s a nonpartisan race,” he said.
Pratt hit the ground running and has been using the same savvy innerwebs acumen that made his videos that much more compelling for advertising skewering Karen Bass and the dysfunctional Los Angeles city government.
It’s only been four months since his announcement, and it looks as if the ‘Republican label’ hasn’t hurt Pratt much at all in the crowded field of fourteen – FOURTEEN – wanna be kings or queens of LA.
Spencer Pratt has become a strong contender in the race to become the mayor of Los Angeles.
According to a new poll released by the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs on Friday, April 3, Spencer, 42, has jumped to second place in the survey of preferred candidates.
Incumbent mayor Karen Bass currently holds the most support from potential voters at 25 per cent while the reality TV star is right behind her at 11 per cent support.
Per the poll, city council member Nithya Raman is currently in third position, with 9 per cent support.
Nithya Raman, the city councilwoman who has been neck and neck with Pratt in some of the polls, is a classic far-left progressive loon who has spent her time demonizing Pratt for being Republican and all that that implies.
ICE!
Nithya lies because she needs to talk about ANYTHING to avoid talking about her abysmal record running LA. She kills dogs on Skid Row, votes against clearing encampments, lets people die in the streets, and she thinks you’re so dumb this partisan slop will distract you. … The only threat I pose is to her failed political career. She thinks you’re dumb because she’s dumb. Here she is blaming TOYOTA for their catalytic converters getting stolen. Apparently, if you get raped, she’ll blame you for wearing a tight dress.
Pratt also has some issues with some of the councilwoman’s pet projects.
Nithya Raman admits to giving drug addicts a billion dollars who are using it to buy…MORE DRUGS! “Well, yes”. Wow. They don’t even try to lie about it. pic.twitter.com/CwY4Z9lLvT

She seems nice.
As for Mayor Bass, Pratt has been doing community outreach to go after her record, which has a touch of genius about it.
This is his Spanish language ad about ‘Taking Out the Trash,’ ZOMG, is it ever snappy!
Pratt absolutely kills it in question and answer sessions, too.
I mean, this is no brain-dead zombie TV star running on his looks and with a pretty wife (he’s married to reality star Heidi Montag).
He’s definitely become a threat in more ways than one, and his no-nonsense, no more BS message is resonating in places you wouldn’t expect in a town like Los Angeles. Pratt and Raman both are leading the mayor in fundraising totals…
The race for Los Angeles Mayor has tightened significantly as candidates filed their latest financial disclosures, revealing a surge of support for challengers looking to unseat Mayor Karen Bass.
While Bass remains the frontrunner in both polling and total cash on hand, the momentum from political outsiders and grassroots organizers has turned the primary into a three-way battle for the top two spots.
What we know:
According to the latest Ethics Commission filings, Spencer Pratt has raised nearly $540,000 since January 1, positioning himself as a “legitimate top-tier candidate” after centering his campaign on criticism of the city’s response to the 2025 Palisades fire.
Nithya Raman, who entered the race late in February, has quickly closed the gap with $530,000 in direct contributions, largely bolstered by the entertainment industry.
…and he just pulled in a donation from the minority owner of the Lakers. Believe me, that raised some eyebrows.
A prominent figure in Los Angeles sports is putting financial weight behind reality television star Spencer Pratt in the race for the city’s next mayor.
What we know:
Los Angeles Lakers minority owner and governor, Jeanie Buss, reportedly donated $1,800 to Pratt’s campaign, which is the maximum allowed amount under local election laws. Despite the contribution, Buss has not publicly endorsed a candidate in the tight race.
The unceasing hammering away at Karen Bass and her abysmal, shameful record continues, and he is now getting national airtime.
And today, he dropped what everyone is calling one of the most masterful political ads they’ve seen.
It’s devastating.

No. They’re not.
Oh, I wish him the best.
