A Cumberland County teacher is under investigation for allegedly being involved in an explicit group chat with two female students.
According to records, David Wilcox, an art teacher at Cumberland County High School, was suspended on May 12 after a student reported that Wilcox was part of a group chat with the two students and that the messages included were inappropriate and extremely explicit.

Wilcox had already submitted a resignation letter with a final employment date of May 27. However, after law enforcement officials began their investigation, school officials placed him on immediate suspension with the right to move his resignation date up if needed.
This is not the first time Wilcox has made headlines this year; in January, he gave his students an assignment that many found controversial.
The assignment, entitled “Two Worlds,” asked students about their sexual orientation, religion, and even household socioeconomic level.
His employment file also showed that he had been previously suspended for yet another incident of a similar nature.
Wilcox will remain on suspension pending the police investigation.
