Letter of the week: Advance are doing the right thing

Dear Editor

While I expect some people will feel disappointed that Advance UK are proposing to de-register as a political party (and potentially merge with GBPAC) I think this is a good move. Though not quite at the same scale, we set up an apolitical political party in January 2021 with seven of us standing in the May 2021 elections. We closed the party after two years and decided to work with the more established Independent Network.  In the meantime we have achieved much by other means and I was elected unopposed as an independent Town Councillor in 2023. We do need good people to stand in elections. We also need them to get elected. Our voting intention poll (conducted with the help of TCW) showed a high degree of overlap between Advance, Reform and Restore.  This move should help.

Police ignoring the law

Dear Editor

Gwent Police have been threatened with legal action by the Women’s Rights Network for allegedly breaching the Supreme Court’s ruling on sex by issuing toilets guidance, which says ‘Trans members of staff are entitled to use the facilities of the gender in which they present.’ It seems that those in charge of Gwent Police haven’t a clue. The UK Supreme Court clarified that the terms ‘woman’ and ‘sex’ in the Equalities Act refer to biological sex so it is crystal clear that female single-sex toilets and changing rooms must exclude men saying they are women. This is UK law. The person who told trans officers that they could use any toilet should be arrested and charged with breaking the law.

Why are women not treated with more dignity?

Dear Editor

I could not agree more with Sylvia Preston’s views on the advertising of sanitary products.

They are awful. I’m surprised they haven’t used Dylan Mulvaney or another transperson to market them.

Dear Editor

I have to say that the letter from Sylvia regarding the constant demeaning of women in our society very much echoed my own thoughts.

I too found the advert she mentioned utterly revolting and have written to Marks & Spencer several times about the placement of women’s underwear in their stores.

Have you noticed, it is nearly always openly displayed at the top of an escalator, the first thing you see as you glide up the stairs, are bras and knickers with the men’s clothing jackets/coats/trousers always alongside.

Giant posters of women half clothed are openly placed alongside men’s jackets and trousers with women having to endure selecting their underwear under the full gaze of men.

Why has this been normalised? It is anything but: it is a deliberate act on the part of these stores to flagrantly portray women as objects for the benefit of men.

If men are afforded the dignity of selecting their underwear in virtual privacy (usually in a discreet corner of the store) why aren’t women?

The IPCC said it – and ignored it

Dear Editor

The IPCC considered that:

‘The climate system is a coupled non-linear chaotic system, and the long-term prediction of future climate states is not possible.’  (Third Assessment Report, 2001)

Despite that, it went on to make many predictions of future climate states using non-linear models with a propensity for chaotic behaviour.

As with covid, they tended to use worst case assumptions to scare the pants off us. No wonder their models were found wanting and were inconsistent with actual trends.

Now in the biggest shift in decades: IPCC’s RCP8.5 Is Officially Dead.

So it is clearly time to stop shifting UK industry to countries which are building a record number of coal-fired power stations – thereby increasing global emissions – while exacerbating fuel poverty here, along with the decimation of our industrial base.

Ed Miliband has no case to hold on to his current Net Zero targets.

Starmer’s ‘full force of the law’

Dear Editor

The police video showing Henry Nowak, his killer family and the British police as Henry dies at their hands, is truly horrific. Not a trailer for a horror movie. Just true life in England. Emotionally for me, most evil and chilling behaviour I have seen on record since the wartime extermination camps. Cold, indisputable, accurate, truth! 2026 Britain; the results of decades of despicable politicians.

Hardly surprising then that a huge anti-establishment demonstration took
place in Southampton. Hardly surprising that a squad of indoctrinated anti-white police were deployed. Full body-armoured RoboCop-style tough guys, to face down and provoke (?) a violent confrontation with any hot-blooded but young man who dares to challenge the state. Hardly surprising that a few brave men did challenge the police despite the adverse odds and risk of injury.

The citizen journalist videos of that confrontation are many and disturbing.  I give an example with just one. These RoboCops are not of the Britain I lived in before immigration and this style of policing was unnecessary in England. Like large-scale immigration, imposed and never voted for.

The shields are for protection but the cops seem to be using the hard and sharp lower edges of the plastic shields as weapons to attack and slash at the faces, arms and necks of protesters who are unarmed and have no protective clothing. There seems to be blood on the street. This is Keir Starmer’s ‘Full force of the law’, that same ‘Full force of the law’ that was used against Lucy Connolly.
