What We Know About WHCD Shooting So Far; Shooter Identified? – HotAir

The prior thread was getting just too chaotic, so let’s start again.

The basics: inexplicably, given the level of security at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner, a man penetrated several layers of security that start far outside the Washington Hilton and rushed the magnetometers just outside the ballroom where the president, vice president, First Lady, and a significant number of Cabinet members and congressmen were. 





He fired at a Secret Service agent, hitting him in his bulletproof vest. The agent returned fire. Both men are alive. 

There were 1500 people in the room, and it was locked down for about an hour. 

This is an image, unconfirmed, that I believe to be the body of the shooter at the @whca dinner. 

Multiple shots were fired at the White House correspondents dinner with president Trump in attendance. 

I heard 5-6 shots ring out, shortly before observing a dead body surrounded by a dozen secret service officers. 

According to multiple on-scene witnesses, an unknown man dashed toward the dining area and was met with gun fire. 





Trump wanted the dinner to resume, but the Secret Service unsurprisingly stopped that idea for obvious reasons.

Details are still scarce, and we will get more soon from the White House Briefing Room, where the president and others will speak. 

The F.B.I. said a suspect was in custody after the Secret Service called “a shooting incident” near a security screening area. According to the White House press pool, a group of reporters who travel with the president, a member of the Secret Service shouted, “Shots fired,” and agents with guns drawn sprinted through the aisles to reach the president.

Guests were about five minutes into the dinner hour when a commotion could be heard toward the back of the ballroom. Gasps were heard and then hundreds of attendees dropped under their seats at their tables.

Security officials with weapons drawn emerged on the dais as the president and the first lady, Melania Trump, were quickly escorted out. Mr. Trump later wrote on social media, “The First Lady, plus the Vice President, and all Cabinet members, are in perfect condition.”

The event has already been highly politicized, with liberal activists charging that it was faked, and others making less charitable comments. 





After tonight’s shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner, Democrats will now spend the next two hours calling for everyone to turn down the temperature on the rhetoric.

Tomorrow morning (if they actually wait that long this time), Democrats will go right back to inciting violence against the President.

Also, it probably won’t be long before we hear the grifters start to claim that whatever happened tonight was staged.

Particularly tragic is that Erika Kirk was on the dais, and was left hiding under the table until she was rushed out by security. 

There is going to be a lot of talk about turning down the temperature, and as with the prior assassination attempts, Democrats will blame Republicans, and the temperature will not be turned down one little bit. 





There are claims that the shooter has been identified, although it is early hours, so we will have to see if it is confirmed. 

🚨🇺🇸 BREAKING: The suspect in the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting has been identified as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen of Torrance, California.

-Video has emerged showing someone on the ground with U.S. Secret Service agents inside the Washington Hilton

-Believed to be the alleged shooter, taken into custody

-Allen reportedly assembled a long weapon in an unsecured back room before opening fire near the magnetometer screening area

-A law enforcement officer was struck in the vest during the incident

-Trump, Melania, and all protectees confirmed safe

The questions about how he got that close start now.

If that report is correct, it will be yet another MASSIVE failure in security, even worse than it first appeared.
