All this virtue signalling doesn’t help minorities and just makes the rest of us even crosser

THE new England football kit features a ‘rainbow’ St George’s cross. Why can’t these virtue-signalling crackerbarrels ever leave anything alone?

This is the sartorial equivalent of ‘taking the knee’, except this time they are bowing to the god of LGBTXYZ.

Hot on its heels, the high street chain Iceland is selling hot cross buns with a tick on them instead of a cross. According to the Sun, a fifth of Iceland’s customers ‘would prefer the spiced Easter buns to have a tick – making it look similar to sportswear firm Nike’s logo’.

The cross on the hot cross bun represents Christ’s crucifixion. Presumably those who took part in the Iceland ‘research’ are unaware of this fact, or perhaps it doesn’t matter?

This appears to me to be yet another campaign to subjugate or hide our indigenous culture and its religious associations. It is appeasement dressed up as bowing to modern trends.

For the past decade, and particularly since the lockdowns, we have been deluged with barrels of this verbal manure. The obsession with personal pronouns, the need to make everything ‘inclusive’ while excluding the opinions and feelings of the majority. We have seen the tampering with literature, art and now we even have to make the countryside ‘inclusive’.

Last week It was revealed that Blackpool Council had decided it was in the best interest of the locals to propagandise the LGBTQ brigade by means of ‘brightening up’ the area to ‘show solidarity’. The majority of folk do not belong to the ‘LGBT community’. However, they are aware of them, so why should they need this constant ‘nudging’? Persistently forcing people to accept minority views does the exact opposite of what it is supposedly intended to do. It puts up the backs of the council taxpayers who want their money spent to benefit all those who pay council tax. Whatever happened to looking after the wider community, for example filling in the potholes?

Like those other self-obsessed zealots, Extinction Rebellion, Just Stop Oil, Insulate Britain and all the rest, it seems these modern-day culture enforcers are hell bent not on minding their own personal business on their own little patch of the planet, but instead force-feeding an increasingly resistant public with their toxic brand of propaganda, insisting that everybody gets on board with their lifestyle – or else! To refuse to do so puts you on the receiving end of their insults and threats.

As it happens, I have among my friends both gay and trans people. None of them feels the need to keep pushing this screeching narrative at me, nor would they dream of prancing around the streets wearing a pink tutu or multicoloured dildos round their necks, as regularly seen in ‘Pride parades’.

It’s time the general public stopped pandering to this nonsense that only gives these narcissists more oxygen. The worst thing is that the modern planet savers and gay/trans lobbyists, like their pals in the ‘critical race theory’ brigade, are not doing themselves any favours either – and in fact are recreating the kind of attitudes that existed before the majority of the public acknowledged there are individuals who are in some way ‘different’.

I have always been an advocate of ‘live and let live’, which is obviously an alien concept to the rainbow abusers and those who think it amusing to mock Christianity and the cross. That adage works only if it takes into account that other people might not want to live your lifestyle, nor do they want to hear about it in lurid Technicolor detail.

This is indoctrination on a level seen in 1930s Germany, with the destruction of books and religious symbolism, in a menacing atmosphere deliberately generated to subjugate the population and deny the heritage of the majority of ordinary people.

And we all know what followed from that. God help us!
