As the days countdown to Christmas and last-minute shoppers struggle to come up with gifts for friends and family, we propose that you give a gift that will gratify you as a constitution-loving conservative and gratify the recipient with the gift of self-defense and liberty – a firearm.
We offer this not-so-tongue-in-cheek suggestion in the wake of Joe Biden’s establishment of the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, an effort by the Biden Administration to funnel taxpayer dollars to the partisan project of gun control.
As the NRA-ILA newsletter opined, “Whatever else can be said of the office, it is at least trying to justify its existence by staying busy, to the detriment of law-abiding gun owners. Last week the office convened a meeting with democrat state legislators in an effort to dragoon them into enacting anti-gun policies that have failed to gain traction at the federal level. Even the U.S. Justice Department – supposedly the executive’s guarantor of civil rights – is now drafting constitutionally dubious ‘model legislation’ that states can use to crack down on gun owners. The effort shows Biden’s weaponization of government for political purposes continues to sink to new lows.”
This new low of using taxpayer dollars to weaponize government against law abiding citizens included a White House event to launch Biden’s Safer States Initiative, which, as our friends at Ammoland Shooting Sports News observed, is essentially Joe Biden’s gun control scheme repackaged from his 2020 presidential campaign.
According to Ammoland’s Dave Workman, there is very little in the plan about holding violent criminals responsible for crimes they commit, with or without firearms. Part of the Biden-Harris proposal is aimed at funding law enforcement efforts to “hold shooters and gun traffickers accountable.”
“States should fund community policing consistent with the standards laid out in President Biden’s Executive Order on Advancing Effective, Accountable Policing and Criminal Justice Practices,” the plan says. “States should also support efforts to improve clearance rates for homicides and shootings, such as dedicated investigatory units and training on working with victims and witnesses to engender trust and cooperation between law enforcement and these populations.”
The Biden-Harris Safer States Initiative also says the administration “can assist states to build and strengthen Crime Gun Intelligence Centers that improve crime gun ballistic information collection, crime gun tracing, and other intelligence gathering to help generate leads, connect guns with multiple crime scenes, and identify gun trafficking channels.” The administration has announced $334 million in grant funding for law enforcement agencies “and expanded the Local Law Enforcement Crime Gun Intelligence Center Integration Initiative to help state and local governments use data and technology to reduce gun crime and illegal gun use,” the Safer States Agenda says.
However, the Biden-Harris plan wants to repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, a federal law signed by former President George W. Bush that protects gun manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers from junk lawsuits designed to bankrupt the industry.
In other words, a significant feature of the Biden-Harris Safer States Initiative is to make guns less available to those lawfully entitled to own them.
According to an ABC News segment reported by Mr. Workman, gun control “figures heavily into Biden’s 2024 reelection campaign, which hopes to reach younger voters who are deeply concerned about gun violence.”
Thus, our suggestion that you should give a gun as a gift NOW, in the off chance that Biden and Harris are successful in the next election and move forward with their gun grabbing schemes.
Mr. Workman also reported ABC said that the Justice Department (DOJ) “came up with model legislation that state lawmakers can take back to their legislatures on safe storage of weapons and on reporting lost and stolen firearms.”
Vice President Kamala Harris apparently hosted the meeting, and highlighted two new Department of Justice executive actions:
Provide states with safe storage model legislation;
Provide states with model for reporting lost or stolen firearms “in an effort to assist law enforcement in investigating and prosecuting crimes.”
The best news in Mr. Workman’s report was that Vice President Harris has been put in charge of this effort. She has been – either by ineptitude or design – singularly unsuccessful in every initiative Biden has given her to manage, and we don’t think that will change.
However, we take all threats to those rights guaranteed by the Constitution seriously, so we certainly don’t intend to ignore Biden-Harris Safer States Initiative during the upcoming state legislative sessions.
And given that this is an election year with state-level Democrats dragging the Biden – Harris anchor along behind them, they will be looking for state house wins for Far-Left Democrats to run on in the 2024 election.
So, seriously, if you are stumped for a gift, consider gifting a gun to a friend or family member who is not prohibited from owning one. You will get the gratification of knowing that you have given your loved one or friend the truly useful gift of self-protection and giving someone a firearm comes with the bonus of knowing that you’ve helped stymie the Democrats effort to undermine the rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment… and really annoyed them in the process.
