Two Tennessee House members anonymously told the Tennessee Conservative that strong objections were made by the true Christians in the House Republican caucus meeting regarding the approval of an openly transgender person delivering the prayer on the House floor.

However, according to the two representatives, Speaker Cameron Sexton pushed back stating that they could not discriminate and followed by giving his stamp of approval on Democrat Representative Aftyn Behn’s (D-Nashville-District 51) invite of Chaplain Dahron Johnson from the United Church of Christ in Nashville.

The Tennessee Holler reports that Johnson is the “first openly trans person to lead prayer on the Tennessee House floor.”

The House members who contacted us requested to remain anonymous from fear of blowback from leadership. Another member told us that things went down a bit differently in the House Republican Caucus meeting, but declined to offer us any details.

Seeking more information on the approval process, The Tennessee Conservative reached out to the House Chief of Staff, Director of Operations, Director of Communications, and Chief Clerk of the House but in typical fashion, they have not replied to Tennessee’s Only Conservative News Alternative.

Sexton’s approval of a transgender person to lead prayer in the hallowed halls of the Tennessee House begs the question,”If a pastor from the Temple of Satan were requested to deliver the ‘prayer’ would Sexton approve it?”

With the influence of The Temple of Satan invading Tennessee via the After School Satan Club at Chimneyrock Elementary in Cordova, this prospect is not unthinkable.

Conservative Christians in Tennessee want to know, “When will Cameron Sexton start living his faith instead of hiding behind it?”
